            Pete Souza is a Whitehouse photographer for the president Barack Obama. Souza left for a leave to go to the Chicago Tribune. He also worked for National Geographic and LIFE magazine. Pete was also one of the first journalists to cover the war in Afghanistan (after 9/11). Souza also wrote a book called the “Rise of Barack Obama” was published in July 2008 includes the senators rise to power. Pete has accompanied the president on many trips to Russia, Kenya and South Africa. Souza has covered stories all over the world from 9/11 to the fall of the Kabul Afghanistan. Another big opportunity was to photograph Ronald Reagan’s funeral. Souza published another book called “Plebe Summer at the U.S. Naval Academy”. Pete Souza also lectured at Boston University, Harvard, the TV show 20-20, nightline, Good morning America and National Public Radio. Pete Souza is a native of South Dartmouth, Mass.  Souza graduated cum laude (it means with honor) with a Bachelor of Science degree in public communication from Boston University and received his master's degree in journalism and mass communication from Kansas State University.
